Alert the PUP-ARAZZI!!!!
The wait is over!
Posha’s story has been in such high-demand, we decided to offer a digital curriculum program in addition to school author visits!
Our new digital curriculum, named Posha’s Positively Pawsome Program is systematic, thorough, engaging and easy to follow. Your student(s) will have fun as well as learn important, modern concepts of self-identity to help them build self-esteem.
Kathleen DiMario and her daughter, Kelly were inspired to write, “What Kind of Dog Am I?” after countless people would ask what type of breed their dog was. Posha, like most rescued dogs, had her own story before Kathleen and Kelly adopted her- a story no one may ever know or even understand. Posha serves as a symbol in which, like herself, each student comes from their own circumstances. What’s most important is instilling in the child’s mind that those circumstances don’t have to define who they are. Their self-love can define who they are.
Through the work of Erik Erickson, renowned child psychologist, research has shown that a child’s strong positive self-identity correlates with higher self-esteem. According to the Encyclopedia of Child Health, children who have higher self-esteem, have an easier time handling conflicts, resisting negative pressures and making friends. They laugh and smile more and have a generally optimistic view of the world and life- just like Posha!
Posha’s story and our new curriculum teaches children that identity is more than just the “name” people use to define us. The answer to the question “Who Am I?” is not found in a “name,” but found in a child’s “forever family,” the people they love and the people who love them. Although Posha is a rescued dog, she doesn’t let that define who she really is. She is incredibly happy and learned to love herself.
We visited over 150 schools, presenting Posha’s Positively Pawsome Curriculum to over 20, 000 students in grades Kindergarten through fifth. As a result, students have learned how they can find their on identity and build self-esteem while aligning with “Common Core” standards.
